One thing I continually hear when talking to Moms About to Blossom is just how much we want BALANCE.
Most of us know by now that perfection-seeking generally leads to some sort of madness (either the angry/resentful kind, or the crazy kind).
We don't even need or want the perfect everything anymore - the perfect body, the perfect career, the perfect relationship, the perfect community, the perfect life purpose, the perfect kids, etc.
However, most of us do want to feel like the most important aspects of our lives are -- at the very least -- being tended to. And we don't want to feel like something really important to us has to be utterly neglected & abandoned just so that we can feed some other essential part of our lives.
Another thing I've noticed when talking to moms is how we all seem to have our prioritized specialties and our default casualties. Some of us, for example, have no idea what we want to do with our professional lives, but we're in fabulous health! Others of us have thriving careers, but our bodies are starved for loving attention.
The thing about flowers (especially the BALANCED kind) is that the health of each petal impacts the health of the whole flower. (i.e. Even if my career is taking off, if my marriage is falling apart, I'm definitely going to feel that!)
This is why it's so important, especially at the beginning stages of any blossoming process where BALANCE is key, that we start by simply TAKING STOCK. That we ask ourselves, "Hey, how am I doing?"
And finally, that we remain open to what we learn... without applying immediate productivity or decision-making pressure on ourselves. (Lord knows we're overwhelmed enough as it is!)
Click here to download your "How am I doing?" Flower.
Fill it out as indicated. And then take a look at the big picture - at your present Life Flower -- with open, curious and accepting eyes, as well as a healthy dose of patience!
Whatever you notice, PLEASE be gentle with yourself.
Be willing to see things as they are, without judgment, blame or shame. No guilt allowed either! (We moms are so good at that one!) Believe me; given all that you're doing and holding every day of your life, it's a miracle you've got a flower at all! ; )
Once you have a gentle yet realistic sense of how you're doing right now, we'll take our next gentle step. (Look for your "TIME FOR ACKNOWLEDGMENT!" email coming soon!)
With more respect & admiration than you may know you deserve,
Rosy
